Wave Community Bank’s Financial Wellbeing Support Officer — known to staff and members as “Money Tracy” — will appear at this year’s UHSussex All Staff Conference, joined by Sid the Shark from the England Illegal Money Lending Team.
The conference takes place at the City Coast Centre in Portslade on Thursday 23 and Friday 24 October, with the same agenda each day to enable more staff and volunteers to attend. The event, proudly supported by the charity My University Hospitals Sussex Charity, is designated as a working day, meaning attendees do not need to book leave.
The theme this year, “Excellent Care Everywhere”, reflects the Trust’s five-year strategy and the role all staff play in delivering outstanding care in every area. The event will feature a marketplace of offers and opportunities, inspiring stories from colleagues, and a keynote from Dr Jo Salter MBE, Britain’s first female fast-jet pilot.
In the marketplace area, Money Tracy will represent Wave Community Bank’s Financial Wellbeing service, offering friendly, confidential advice to help UHSussex staff feel more confident and supported with money. Sid the Shark will be present to raise awareness of the dangers of illegal money-lending and to highlight safe, ethical alternatives — including the Chorus Workplace Savings Scheme.
University Hospitals Sussex NHS Trust is a long-standing Employer Partner of the Chorus scheme: staff can save or repay loans directly from their pay through Wave Community Bank, making money management simpler and supporting long-term financial resilience.
